Welcome! I am so glad you have taken the time to stop by my blog and learn a bit about Epic Designs and the exciting days that make this business what it is. In this blog I hope to share with you tips and tricks about design, why you need it, when to hire a designer and how to make your bsiness work for you. Along the way there may be a few tidbits of free information and graphics along with mentions of my every dday realities, but the intention will be to answer your questions and provide solutions for your business.
To get started, I am Megan and as you may already know, I’m the creator and visionary behind Epic Designs. I have been a life-long artist and loved the idea that I could become a professional one making a living as one through graphic design. Little did I know, there are a lot of caveats to this and to be successful, in the financial sense, requires much different thinking than that of an artist.
It all started about 15 years ago in the panhandle of Florida. I had recently graduated college and knew that in order to “make it” I would need to leave the oversaturated market of Colorado. Well, I defintely landed in a place where there were only a few of us, but at least was able to find a position as a production designer at a local newspaper. From there, I slowly built my resume by accerating up the ladder through different companies all the while traveling the country. To fulfill my passion of art and design on the side, I continued to build my portfolio by working my side hustle that is known as Epic Designs today. After 10 years of working for small businesses to Fortune 500 companies and never really feeling appreciated or accomplished, I decided I needed to take the leap and start my business. This was a very tough decision because I had 2 kids at home to take care of and knew the task of a new business would be daunting and tiresome, but I couldn’t let the opportunity escape.
With a supportive family and friends, along with an awesome network of designers, I knew I was going to make this happen, no matter what. It was tough in the beginning and I was willing to take anything design related that came my way. I created anything I possibly could from business cards, website landing pages, flyers, logos, etc. that would fill my portfolio so that I could say “I made it!” Well, I have made it. I learned through that process what it is I best at creating and what my passion really was – BRANDING. Through my years I have really learned how little designers and clients really know or understand about what branding is and does for the business. Because of this, I am now focused on providing a service that creates an identity that is more in alignment of what the business really is. Each business voice is different and I love learning about what each has to say.
So, take your time to learn about your business and what your audience really thinks of it and you might find it is time for an update. I would love the opportunity to chat with you. Send me an email or sign up for a free 30 min consultation below.
